Well, with Valentine’s Day just a few days away I thought I’d better get this post on Valentine Decorations posted. Decorating for the different seasons is something I learned from my mother. She also made special cookies, pies, candies and meals for us too. Both were ways she expressed her love to us. Over the years I have done the same for my family. Now it’s just me and my sweetheart, because all of our children and grandchildren live hours away. Part of my Valentine gift to Gene is decorating for Valentines after Christmas is packed up so we can enjoy the decor.IMG_6745ddd

Here on our foyer table I have used a Hallmark foldout card my friend Marsha gave me some twenty-five years ago. With that I added a heart shaped crystal dish, love birds, Valentine tin and a floral arrangement of silk roses on a lace table cloth.

Above is my mantel decor from 2015. I used a pair of cowboy boots and put silk roses and ivy in them, accented with brass candle sticks, heart shaped boxes, a branding iron, a cowboy hat & longhorn steer skull. Well, this year my husband got what he has wanted for a long time, a 60 inch TV screen above the mantel. Guys and their play toys! So my Valentine mantel decorations have had to be scaled back as you can see below.  Oh what we do for love!

Below is a heart shaped basket I filled with old Valentine chocolate boxes I have collected over the years, added some roses, pine cones and ribbon I set on our den fireplace.

My kitchen decorations are simple; Valentine boxes, a small rose plate, an angel mug with a silk rose arrangement and Valentine tin behind my kitchen sink. The kitchen table has a red table cloth and lace doilie under the glass, in the center is a red rose heart shape wreath I have accented with tiny pink, white and red roses around a gold candle dish with candle. This makes each meal special for us.

Our den Valentine decor behind the couch I used a silk rose arrangement, pearl and pink beads, hearts and M&M’s of course.

The formal living room Valentine decorations with red accents. The heart shape pillows were sewn by my mother thirty two years ago. My oldest son was two at the time, and she had him help her make some of the embroidery stitches to make the pillows even more special for me.

On one of our living room end table is decorated with roses, and I put antique post cards under the glass. The cards were love notes of my great grandparents, on my mothers side.

Well, this gives you a look at some of what I have done in our home for Valentines. As with Christmas and Fall, I have fond remembrances of family and friends in my decorating. I’m thankful for that! Until my next post…. God Bless You!
