I had received a Santa pin from a friend some twenty years ago, while living in North Carolina. She commented to me “you could do this”! These Santa’s are painted on sea shells. Well, being that we lived approximately an hour from the coast my sons and I picked up lots of sea shells over the years. We made lots of crafts with the shells to give as gifts to family and friends too. Here is how I go about making my Santa ornaments and pins.

I start by priming the shells with a priming paint, so that the paint does not dull on the shells especially the dark ones. Then I do a rough sketch of the face with pencil and start blocking in the colors, layering the paint, adding details, shading and shadows.

Once painted I spray with a high gloss clear spray paint. When dry I add pin backs to the shells with my hot glue gun. Then it’s up to the individual person whether they use it as a pin or attach a ribbon or hook to hang on the Christmas tree. One cute little Santa takes me roughly an hour to make from start to finish.  Each Santa is truly unique in its personality and shape and definitely is one-of-a-kind. I’m selling them for $18 each. I hope I’ve blessed you with my Santa’s. While we love seeing Santa, remember what the season is truly about….Jesus.

Until my next post……. God Bless You!
