One of my favorite rooms in our home is the living room. I love to spend time in there, in fact it’s where I have my desk to write these posts.  It has a warmth and coziness that makes me feel good, yet it has some elegance to it as well. So in this post today, I want to share with you my living room Christmas decorations. The focal point to the room is the fireplace and baby grand piano. You’ll remember seeing the Angel tree from my post on Christmas TREE Decorating.

318dddMy husband likes to refer to the girl in the painting as his Aunt Minnie (he does not have an Aunt Minnie), but he can tell a good story about her.  I think the painting adds some southern charm to the room and mantel. I filled the urns with silk poinsettia, roses, ivy and gold stems, added a garland with white lights, gold ribbon, jeweled balls and two angel head ornaments tucked in between. I love decorating with red roses and poinsettia because they have a richness about them. They are the main theme throughout our home, as you will see in posts yet to come.

I put a little something on the coffee table and end tables, with a touch of gold and crystal accent pieces.

I added in frosted fruit to some of the arrangements since several of our paintings and prints feature fruit. The photo on the table is of my Yorkie, Ladybird, when she was two years old. She is now eleven and a half.

I added an arrangement to the top of my curio cabinet, which belonged to my grandmother Selma Sander. I have lots of family and childhood mementos in there.

Now, turning to the opposite side of the living room is our dining area.

Here you see my collection of the colonial Christmas wreath plates along with more accents of fruit.

The center of the table I used the poppy pod balls I made and used in the fall decorations. Here I’m using them with the frosted fruit, Christmas greenery, beaded garland, roses and gold magnolia pod ball ornaments, on top of a long mirror runner. The mirror reflects the soft lighting in the room. No, I did not make the magnolia pod balls, but they could be duplicated very easily.

Here’s another view of the table and buffet. You can see I hung just a few red and gold ornaments on the chandelier.

The buffet has a mirror in the back that not only reflects the lighting in the room but the cut glass punch bowl, cake carrier and decanter.

In the cake carrier I display my grandmother Clara Kobs and mother Ruby Kobs-Lange beaded balls they made in the 60’s and 70’s.

Over the buffet is a wreath I made a few years ago, that stays true to my theme.

Under the wreath I just accented with the Christmas greenery, but added an angel and beaded balls my mother made.

Now you’ll remember at the beginning of my post I said I put my desk in the room. Well, here’s where I create my posts, along with my precious Yorkies, Ladybird and Chloe (that’s two-year old Chloe on the couch).
