Love the party mix recipes you find on the Crispex and Chex cereal boxes. Over the years I’ve adjusted to my families taste. My son, Joseph, will walk off with the whole batch if I don’t keep a watchful eye on him. Yesterday, I had my son and his fiance here for the afternoon. We enjoyed visiting together while making Haystacks and Party Mix. They took some home too!

My Style of Party Mix

Preheat oven to 250 degrees

10 cups of Crispex (thicker and you get the rice & corn)

2 – 9 3/4 ounce bags Fritos Chili Cheese (my husbands favorite)

2 – 9 ounce bags Cheetos Cheddar Jalapeno (my favorite)

10 cups of Snyder’s Snap Pretzels (the ones that look like a checker board – good flavor, they don’t crumble as easy and it’s my grandsons favorite)

2 cups of pecans

2 cups of natural almonds

1 cup of dry roasted peanuts

2 cups of cashews

These are nuts my family likes. You may choose your own families favorites.

Mix all the above ingredients in a large deep aluminium pan (I use my roasting pan).

Time to mix the seasonings….

1 1/2 cups of unsalted butter, melted

2 teaspoons ground cumin

2 teaspoons onion powder

2 teaspoons garlic powder

4 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce

Juice of one large lemon

Mix the above seasoning ingredients together and pour over cereal mixture. Stir well to coat. Put into your 250 degree oven and allow to bake for 20 minutes and stir, do this three times. Stirring the mixture in between the 20 minute baking times gives the mixture an even toasting. When finished spread party mix out to cool on a big thick bath towel instead of paper towels.  The towel works for better absorption and easy clean up. Store in airtight containers or zip-lock bags. This makes a BIG batch, but it disappears so fast!

This is great for an appetizer when hosting a party or to bring to a party as a hostess gift. It’s also a much appreciated gift during the holidays too. Homemade gifts are gifts made with love. I’m thankful for the love of my family, friends and my heavenly Father. I am thankful for the gifts and talents He has blessed me with, and now my website that I can share with others. Praising Him!  Until my next post….. God Bless You!
