I thought I’d share these ideas for fall decorating, to inspire you in your home and add helpful hints along the way too.
Our den fireplace I decorated with fall leaves & flowers, gourds, pumpkins, and antlers to name a few of the items. I used a steer skull, I was given by a friend, center over the mantel with a fall blossom (a Georgia O’Keeffe idea). I use this skull several times throughout the year in my seasonal decorating.
Our living room we have a beautifully framed painting (my husband claims is his Aunt Minnie) on the mantel with fall leaf arrangements and pottery birds. (**Here’s a helpful hint when packing up your arrangements — I use lg laundry bags and store one in each in a lg tote. Then it’s ready to pull out, put in vases and tweak the leave a little the next year.) The fireplace holds a rustic box with mums, leaves and gourds.
I have this pheasant (no it is not real, but a good imitation) with fall leaves, flowers, gourds, pine cones, wooden candle sticks, a bowl of fragrant fall potpourri and some fall M&M’s.
This table decoration is opposite the den fireplace. I placed above the table a fall watercolor painting of mine and another pheasant in flight.
I decorated our dining room buffet with a ceramic cornucopia fall arrangement I made with leaves, flowers, pumpkins & seed pods. A old ornate plate I received from my mother, a large gourd and a pie in the cake carrier (it’s not real, but looks good).
Our dining room table shown before in Seasonal Decorations post.
I also have a few of these small fall accents placed around to keep things cohesive. I used leaves and pumpkin floral picks that I attached together using floral tape. (** Helpful Hint –This is great when you pack up your floral decor. All you have to do is lay each in tissue paper in a small tote. Ready to lay out again for next fall without having to rearrange everything all over again.)
(** Another helpful hint is taking photos of your decorations to refresh your mind the next year when decorating. Even if I don’t duplicate them the same way it helps me to have the visual.) I hope I have inspired you and helped you in some small way. I’d love to get your feedback. Until next time…. God Bless!
