Fall Decorating time is here. I wanted to share some of my fall decorations with you this year. I’ve had to reconsider my decorating, because we moved some furniture around. I love to use items found in nature, you’ll see the gourds I grew, the poppy pod balls I made from the German Poppies I grew in spring and acorn balls from the oak trees in our yard. I have collected antlers and pine cones from various places and have joined them with silk leaves, flowers and other items I found.
Here are my dining room decorations.
One of the gourds here I carved and painted with fall leaves keeping it realistic, then added other shapes of gourds, poppy pod balls and leaves.
I used a long mirror runner to allow the decor to show the shapes and colors. Here I used my gourds, poppy pod balls, pine cones, leaves, acorn balls and a beaded strand for some bling.
Our formal living room has just a few decorations. Simplicity is the key. You just need a few pops of color. I found my little Yorkie, Chloe, on the back of the couch. She is never far away from me.
Chloe placed herself in the photo again. I added potpourri to a crystal leaf dish on the coffee table and made a fall silk arrangement under the candle stand. I hung one of my watercolor paintings of a fall scene behind the chair.
On the round corner table I used a fall pick and tucked in some fall leaves.
I put a basket with gourds and leaves and a pot of chrysanthemums on the fireplace.
The foyer table I put together a silk fall arrangement using eucalyptus and a few other things I had on hand. Then I just added a piece of depression glass and some leaves.
Here in our main living area, which is a den and kitchen combination, I added more of the same gourds, silk flowers and leaves, pine cones, tiny pumpkins, ……. .
On the coffee table I used a gourd I had cut. I turned it upside down in a metal vase frame and added a glass votive candle inside.
I placed an arrangement on the den fireplace using a lot of the same items and tucked in a furry rabbit.
BTW The very large gourds here and on the living room fireplace I did not grow, but I found at a yard sale several years ago.
I’m still decorating the den mantel despite my husbands BIG flat screen TV. Simple with pops of color using silk flowers, leaves, antler, pumpkins, gourds, stems of artichokes and steer horn.
Touches of fall in the kitchen. I used a Lazy Susan on the table to decorate. It helps when cleaning the table to be able to move the whole arrangement at once.
Above the hutch I have some silk chrysanthemums and an acrylic painting I did for my parents nineteenth wedding anniversary in 1975, of the Church of Transfiguration in Wyoming. I remember when you sat down on the log pews in the church the highest peak of the Grand Tetons was always perfectly centered in the big glass window down front. This is a precious 1960’s memory for me going on this family vacation with my parents, sister, brother, maternal grandparents and great-grandfather. We all managed to fit into one station wagon too.
Now because I have room behind my kitchen sink I’ve chosen it as another area to decorate. I used a ceramic cornucopia arrangement, added a large candle and bowls of vegetables and fruits.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my decorations and got some creative juices flowing. Until my next post …….. God Bless You!
