Some twenty-five years ago, I was living in eastern North Carolina. We were a little over an hour from the beach, where I enjoyed picked up sea shells with my sons (then 4 & 6). It was on one of those fun crafty days we were making sea shell ornaments. I had the metal lids (from frozen orange juice) that they used to arrange sea shells on and filled in with the crushed shell (we called “sprinkles”).  I added a wire and tiny red ribbon with their name, age and date on the back. Besides having fun making these ornaments I was trying to teach my sons the importance to give and not just receive gifts at Christmas. Homemade gifts mean so much! They gave these as gifts to their grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts and uncles, who were thrilled to receive them and see them hang on their tree each year. Okay, I’m telling you all this to explain how I came to make Angel Sea Shell Ornaments.

The kitchen table being covered with sea shells of all shapes and sizes I noticed some shells laying together that resembled an angel to me.  Well, that’s how it started and I’ve been making them ever since. I have no idea how many I have made and sold through the years.

Here I have laid out some so you can get an idea of what I am talking about.

Next step is hot gluing the shells in place, add a wire hook on the back for hanging. Some of the tiny ones I have even put pin backs on, so they may be worn.

I particularly like the shells with the holes. They give the angel such character.  Don’t you agree?

Some look like they have flowing gowns to me.

Big, medium, small or tiny they are all unique in their own way, just as we are.  I hope you have enjoyed this post.  In each post you learn a little more about me, my family and my artistic abilities God has blessed me with.  God Bless You!
